2021: A Year in Review
2021 was an unpredictable, yet exciting year for The Tyre Collective to say the least. Despite strict Covid restrictions, we continued to develop our device, form lasting partnerships, and hit major milestones. With our first newsletter, we want to celebrate our achievements with you and thank you for being a part of our journey!

““Zero Carbon. It’s not a choice, it’s a necessity.””
Without capturing tyre wear, transport will never be Net Zero. Throughout the year, we received tremendous support across industry and government to bring our vision into a reality. We secured 3 InnovateUK Grants and closed our first funding round led by Sky Ocean Ventures. We continue to generate substantial traction across media to raise awareness on tyre wear and joined the Centre for Climate Change Innovation’s Greenhouse programme, TechNation’s Net Zero 2.0 Cohort, expanding our network in the sustainability space.
A major milestone was testing our first on-vehicle prototypes with partners CEVT and Volvo Cars. Over the 7 weeks, we drove over 3000 km, and successfully captured the first on-road samples of tyre wear!

The Road Ahead
COP26 spotlighted the imminent dangers of climate change, stressing the need for clean-tech innovation and solutions. We are kicking off 2022 with our next development stages, research collaborations, and building a more robust device for larger pilots. We will also be starting our next funding round mid-2022.
It is crucial we bring our devices to market quickly – everyday we delay capturing tyre wear, more are entering our waterways, the food we eat and the air we breathe. Together, let’s save our air from tyre wear!
