The Tyre Collective x HIVED
The Tyre Collective and HIVED have today announced a partnership to advance research in capturing and reducing particle emissions from tyres.
The collaboration will see The Tyre Collective’s 4th generation prototype (TC04) device fitted to five of HIVED’s all-electric vehicle delivery vans in London, from August.
As part of the trial, the devices will sit behind each tyre and capture tyre wear particulate matter (PM) using electrostatics as they are being produced during driving. The particulates collected by each vehicle will then be analysed by The Tyre Collective in order to assess the performance of the device.
The collaboration comes at a key moment, as awareness of the significant impact of PM emissions from tyres continues to grow. Currently, 6.1 million tonnes of tyre dust ends up in our atmosphere and waterways, annually. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles (EV) and the increasing efficiency of combustion engines, tyre wear is expected to become the number one source of vehicle pollution in the coming years.
About HIVED:
HIVED is all an electric-delivery company built to provide the best possible experience for customers. It has already delivered millions of parcels across London and counts ASOS, Sky, Zara and Candy Kittens among its customers.
About The Tyre Collective:
The Tyre Collective is a London cleantech start-up developing solutions to capture tyre wear at the source using their patent-pending electrostatic technology. They have piloted their device with companies like CEVT & Volvo Cars, PostNL and BMW Financial Services.
